With the sun shinning from early morning we couldn't have asked for a better start yesterday...and it just got better! The crowds came and we had to use our overflow car park (thanks to the lads from Crickhowell Rugby Club for doing such a great job); entertainment in the main ring kept everyone enthralled and the agricultural classes were keenly contested - entries were up on last year. We hope to see you all again next year...planning starts next week!
That's right, there are just 5 days left until the 5th Llangynidr Agricultural Show. The Committee has been busy finalising arrangements and during the next few days the Show ground will be coming to life. If your passing the village hall, give the team a beep. Remember to get any Garden& Craft Show enteries in by Wednesday (tomorrow) and do consider joining in the various free to enter classes including fancy dress, It's a Knockout and largest nettle! At last year’s Show, Rhian Ralph from Llangynidr entertained everyone with a display of carriage driving. Her hard work and dedication to the sport has recently paid off. Winning the Junior Driver Championship at the British Driving Society Show at Smith's Lawn Windsor (June 19th, 2011), her winner's sash was presented to her by the Queen and Prince Philip (see photo). Driving Toddi, Rhian may be the first young Welsh person to win the title since the competition began in 1964 and at 13 years is certainly one of the youngest as the competition is open to youngsters up to 17 years of age – well done Rhian! Rhian is a junior member of the British Driving Society and as a result of her driving demonstration last year, Llangynidr Agricultural Show Society made a contribution to training for young BDS drivers in Wales.
